Week Thirty-Two: May 30th, 2011

Hey everybody,
This week has been a good week. It starts off with last Pday we ended up making Chicken tacos for lunch and those were awesome. We had an awesome lesson with Iris and Nibaldo's family. We discussed the restoration and even talked about their first experiences in the church and with the Holy Ghost. It was awesome. We have been meeting with Juan and Sara still and it has been awesome to be with them. Sara seriously does not remember anything that is going on every. Teresa has been doing awesome and is progressing very well in the gospel and we hope to get her baptized very soon. Well those are the people we have been working with this week and I hope all of you are doing good. I love you and will talk to you later.

Week Thirty-One: May 23, 2011

Dear Family,
This week has been a good and a bad week. It started off being good. We have around 4 or 5 investigators that we are focusing on right now. First is Daniel who has been on our list for awhile. The thing is he knows it all he just needs to get baptized already. The good news with him is his wife has moved back in and she is now being very receptive to our message. Where as before she didn't care at all. Third is Teresa Roja. She is the Ward Secretary's daughter and for whatever reason she is not a member out of a huge family of members. We've taught her twice this week and each time we've gone over the entire family comes. Her sister, nieces, nephews, and grand nephews. It is amazing to see how this family is trying to get her baptized. What has been even more impressive is how Christ like she has been through all of it. I was nervous as first that with so many people telling her that she was wrong could strike some pride but it didn't and she is only that much stronger because of it. Fourth is Iris. She is the girlfriend of the son of the Elders Quorum President. They live with the President and his family and her family lives there also. That is a lot of people in one house. She has also been very humble and very accepting. She has really good questions also. Now we just need to get them married and then baptized. They even have a little 4 month old daughter. Fifth we have Melani. She is 11 years old and her mom is a member of the church and is active. The Mom said that she has been teaching her but now wants some help to get her baptized. We haven't really had a chance to get in and teach her. Now on a sadder note Saturday morning we had an Elder pass away. They went running in the morning and on the way home Elder Jennings had a heart attack and died instantly. The area they are in is little corner within our sector. It was Elder Jones old sector he just came from. The entire mission is pretty shakened up about it. Our zone had a meeting with President yesterday where he told us about it. It is amazing how fragile life is and yet how important the atonement and the plan of salvation is. Well Family I love you and hope all is well and to hear from you soon.

Week Thirty: May 16, 2011

Hi Everyone,
All is going good down here. We haven't had anything crazy exciting happening. We have just been working on refilling our investigator pool. It can certainly take a while but we are both loving it. I aboslutely love Elder Jones. He is so patient and fun and loving and I'm just striving to become more like him everyday. I glad that the ward is doing good. We've been trying to strength our ward also and build it with love and unity. It is not easy though. Haha We played soccer today and I have to confess I think it is the best I've played for awhile. I played goalie and defense. I love our zone. It is so fun to be with everyone.
I hope to hear from you soon.

Week Twenty-Nine: May 9th, 2011

Nick didn't send an email this week because we were able to talk to him on Mother's Day on Skype. It was so fun to SEE him and talk to him! And there really was no delay! It was just like he was in the same room!

He is doing really good! He loves his new companion! The work is hard and they get alot of doors slammed in their faces but they are trying hard! They also do alot of reactivation work. Getting members to come to church! He looked really great and was really happy! He had been doing a little cooking making German Pancakes ( We call them Monsters at our house). He said he didn't realize how easy they are to make! Their weather is just starting to get cold. It was only 50 degrees there. (that's not so bad after living in Utah)

Week Twenty-Eight: May 2nd, 2011

Hey everyone,
Well this week has been definitely awesome. So we finished off the day Monday in the city in a different Elder's Sector. Tuesday we went together to changes to pick up our new companions. I received Elder Jones from Idaho and Texas. He only has 3 months left in the mission. He is so awesome. We haven´t had any amazing miracles but I just love working hard and we have been. He is also the District Leader and this is his first time being the District Leader. I just love being able to look back at the past week and say well we might not of had many results but we did the best we could. This past week I've been working on contacting people in the street and we have been visiting all the recent converts. We have 10 in our area and only a few are going to church so we're working on that. Yesterday we had a really awesome thing happen. Well of course it was fast and testimony Sacrament Meeting and Juan decided halfway through that he wanted to share his testimony. So I was sitting right next to him and he asked if he could I was like Of course! Get up there. haha. So he bore his testimony and expressed how sad he was that he never had a child in life and that his step sons all live in Europe and are evangelical. But then he said that he didn´t need to be sad because our ward is his family and that just made me so happy to hear him say that. He also received the priesthood yesterday. Things have been going great and I absolutely love my new companion. He makes me such a better person. Well I hope you all are doing well and I will talk to you later.
