Week Thirty-One: May 23, 2011

Dear Family,
This week has been a good and a bad week. It started off being good. We have around 4 or 5 investigators that we are focusing on right now. First is Daniel who has been on our list for awhile. The thing is he knows it all he just needs to get baptized already. The good news with him is his wife has moved back in and she is now being very receptive to our message. Where as before she didn't care at all. Third is Teresa Roja. She is the Ward Secretary's daughter and for whatever reason she is not a member out of a huge family of members. We've taught her twice this week and each time we've gone over the entire family comes. Her sister, nieces, nephews, and grand nephews. It is amazing to see how this family is trying to get her baptized. What has been even more impressive is how Christ like she has been through all of it. I was nervous as first that with so many people telling her that she was wrong could strike some pride but it didn't and she is only that much stronger because of it. Fourth is Iris. She is the girlfriend of the son of the Elders Quorum President. They live with the President and his family and her family lives there also. That is a lot of people in one house. She has also been very humble and very accepting. She has really good questions also. Now we just need to get them married and then baptized. They even have a little 4 month old daughter. Fifth we have Melani. She is 11 years old and her mom is a member of the church and is active. The Mom said that she has been teaching her but now wants some help to get her baptized. We haven't really had a chance to get in and teach her. Now on a sadder note Saturday morning we had an Elder pass away. They went running in the morning and on the way home Elder Jennings had a heart attack and died instantly. The area they are in is little corner within our sector. It was Elder Jones old sector he just came from. The entire mission is pretty shakened up about it. Our zone had a meeting with President yesterday where he told us about it. It is amazing how fragile life is and yet how important the atonement and the plan of salvation is. Well Family I love you and hope all is well and to hear from you soon.

Love,
Elder Holton
